And the UCAS personal statement specifically mentions the benefit of having relevant content.

Choice of pathway – Wherever possible, there’s also a choice of local academic courses and apprenticeships in your chosen careers room.

For Advertisers:

Different – This is an independent local website for 16-21 year olds based on the concept of noticeboards inside careers rooms. It is not intended for graduates and not a careers advice & guidance website – although we do signpost to the considerable support accessible elsewhere.

Signposting – We provide four noticeboards in each careers room where organisations can signpost to relevant and local talks and events, work experience, academic courses and apprenticeship vacancies for interested young people to find and apply direct.

Quick & Easy – Adverts are live in just a few minutes using a simple onscreen template form. Register here and you can load them yourself anytime!

No Barriers – It’s free to search and free to advertise on the noticeboards, we don’t handle applications, there’s no middleman and no catch.

No competition – We signpost direct to anyone offering local opportunities suitable for young people, including volunteering organisations, colleges, and training companies. We do not handle applications and we do not charge. All we ask that is that there is clear acknowledgement of the lead (e.g. for our Testimonials) so that we can attract sponsorship.

Equal – all the adverts are in the same format. To encourage SMEs, the opportunities with smaller organisations are therefore listed equally alongside the larger ones.

Quality – We seek out quality local opportunities from quality organisations and brands. We enhance that quality by only allowing adverts in the relevant careers rooms. Young people then become quality applicants because they have a genuine interest in that career sector.

Who are we? is the initiative of mother of two, Emma Tate, who has had a sixth form careers role at two secondary schools preceded by experience in business development, student recruitment, marketing insight, customer experience and in creating innovative events for a major UK employer.

The website was born out of a frustration with the bewildering choice of national careers-related websites as well as the complexity and often confusing functionality of some of those available. Most of all it was the one simple thing that was missing which would have made life ‘so much easier’ when trying to help young people to get recent and relevant examples on their CVs and Personal Statements.

We are proud to have created a free, one-stop-shop to help young people, their parents and schools to quickly and easily access relevant and local opportunities to help fill CVs and Personal Statements for applications and interviews, whilst at the same time signposting (wherever possible) to a choice of local academic courses and apprenticeship vacancies relevant to each career sector.

We’ve also devised simple overviews of the different local pathways available after GCSEs and at aged 18, Tips on CVs, interviews and applications as well as a Help section signposting to more detailed advice and guidance elsewhere. These are all conveniently located on the blue banner at the bottom of every screen.

We care deeply about showcasing the choice of local opportunities and career pathways that can help young people of all circumstances and abilities to write their CVs, fill their CVs and get their future started!
